Mordechai Klein
M.A.
My first and foremost goal is to help my clients free themselves from the bonds of anxiety and depression so they may pursue their dreams unfettered by mental health issues.
I am a Psychology Associate working under the license of my supervisor, Dr. Jeff Sheggrud. I am also a school psychologist.
I am trained in evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness, which are my primary modalities. I can also opt to incorporate more experiential models to explore emotional blockages and heal wounds that are influencing one’s view of themselves and the world around them. If necessary, at some point in the therapeutic process, core beliefs of worthlessness, being unlovable, and or helplessness are also addressed.
I also specialize in treating OCD, using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Being a school psychologist (in addition to being a psychological associate), working in Prince George’s County Public Schools for the past 12 years, I have intimate knowledge and practice with a number of mental health conditions such as learning disabilities, ADHD, anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, and autism.
My therapy sessions are structured to elicit the greatest productivity and change possible during the session. Each session ends with an "action plan" that the client is strongly encouraged to complete between sessions in order to speed up the therapeutic healing process. At the end of each session the client is encouraged to provide feedback in order to make follow-up sessions more suited to what works best for them. Finally, the ultimate goal of my form of therapy is to have the client become their own therapist, so to speak, eventually being able to use the skills that they have gained and continue to thrive and grow on their own.
I work with people of all ages, including children, adolescents, and adults. I am currently working at PCA in the evenings Tuesday through Thursday, from 8:00-10:00 PM.
